Director, the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies
Philippe Burrin has been the Director of the Graduate Institute since 2004. From 1988 to 2004 he taught the history of international relations with a focus on 20th century European history, in particular the two world wars, fascism, Nazism, and antisemitism. He was a Fellow at Harvard’s Centre for European Studies, the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin and Oxford’s All Souls College. He has also taught as Visiting Professor at several universities, including Sciences Po and the Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität in Frankfurt.
